I colour coordinate my books, too. Funny. People always find it strange, but it's as useful for me as it is visually appealing. I remember the colour of all of my books since I've read, touched and held them so often so I even keep them in colour order now that I've moved and have them tucked away in a large sideboard.

1. No carpet (Self explanatory)
2. No parquet floors (Not sure why, but I really, really hate them)
3. Must have a bath tub.
4. Tranquility

That's about it. I'd love great closest space like I have now, but I have made due without it in the past (you learn a lot of tricks when it comes to storage).

None are much like me. My palette would be a greyscale with bold whites and blacks, and maybe a splash of the lime from 4 or the fuchsia from 1. If I had to choose my favourites though, I'd go with 1 and 2.

This seems so normal to me and I live in Toronto. I rent my one bedroom unit right now for $1475 per month (all utilities included) but if I were to buy it, it would be around the $350,000 price range with maybe a $300 per month maintenance fee (which is extremely low for a downtown condo, but there's no concierge or live-in super here).

Then again, I live in a Freed development (http://www.freeddevelopments.com/) which is already beautifully designed and very spacious. But still, unit prices for a condo in downtown Toronto range from $300,000 to the millions. You get more bang for your buck here, though. My unit is around 700 square feet, but I chalk that up to the much larger kitchen and bathroom.

Oh, and as for the hallway thing. I leave my shoes at my door on the INSIDE of my apartment, not on the outside. That's just weird. In a home with two doors and a space in between, that makes sense, but otherwise it doesn't. I think I once saw shoes outside of an apartment door with friends and we were all like "Wtf, who lost their shoes?" I didn't even think that someone would leave them there intentionally. Bizarre.

"Not taking your shoes off at the door, from my experiences, seems to be an american thing. I don't know any canadians that would not do this."

As a Canadian, I'm inclined to agree.

I'm a city girl at heart, so as the shoes are part of my outfit, I don't take them off at parties or get togethers. Plus, I wear heels every day so my busted, smelly feet are not something everyone needs to see. However, outside of a large group setting, people here always take off their shoes before entering someone's home. It's weird not to. In regards to my own home, I of course take off my shoes. As I mentioned, I wear heels every day... sometimes after a late night, they're off before I even get out of the taxi.

Yeah, I'm in Canada so nothing's here yet. The laptop stand is perfect though, because though I love (LOVE) the desk, I know how I am and I'd use the bed-friendly stand much more. I hope it comes in solid colours, though!

Their stock can be overwhelming, but if you have an idea of what you're looking for, you'll find it. I have two large prints from them (Over 4 feet wide once framed) and I love them! The prints will generally cost you more than the framing, as most of the larger pieces are photographs, not mass produced prints, but their very affordable framing cuts the cost. If you sign up for their newsletter, they always have deals where you enter a code and get a great deal off. Shipping is a lot if you're from outside the States (I'm in Toronto and pay close to $100) but I bought one of my prints with a code for free shipping, and my last one at 22% which was more than my shipping cost. Large, beautiful, non-mass produced framed photographs will cost you between 300 and close to 500 when all is said and done, but it's so worth it if you're a lover of large, bold pieces.

Well Kozy and Sypage, it depends whether you were taught that fact in Science or Art class. In terms of light, blue, red and yellow together produce white (think of how a television works), whereas black, or darkness, is the absence of colour. These are what we call additive colours, which have a different colour wheel all together composed of Red, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue and Magenta.

However, in terms of paint (crayons, dyed fabrics, etc.), black is the combination of all colours, whereas white is the absence of colour (as stated in the original post). Just think of it this way: if you're painting and you mix all of the paints (colours) together, you get black. These are called subtractive colours, which are comprised of the wheel that we're likely all used to (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple). So, in terms of design, black is all colours, whereas white is the absence of colour.

Does that sort of make sense? I tend to ramble sometimes.

We don't have Black Friday here in Canada, but the whole idea scares me. I only just heard of what this day was last year, then a few days after there were all these news reports about a pregnant woman getting trampled by a mob at Walmart along with an employee who was also trampled and killed. What the hell, America? I still avoid Boxing Day.

Definitely go for the Maestro. It has a more modern appeal. It also has much more of a unisex feel, while the Rochelle Platinum, which I also liked, has a primarily feminine look to it. The Maestro will be much more functional while the Rochelle Platinum is more for your fancy, gals only get together. So, I vote Maestro unless you're big on hosting elegant parties for your girlfriends - which is a definite possibility!

Also, a large, framed print with a lot of colour across from the cabinets would be killer. I suggest allposters.com! Happy renovating!

If you don't want to paint the cabinets, I suggest staining them a more desirable shade that you can more easily match a paint colour for the walls to. Also, change the knobs, the light fixture and window treatment (all can be done for almost nothing if you know where to go). If you really hate your floors, I suggest SmartTiles from Home Depot www.homedepot.ca), or wherever they may be available in your home town. They stick and peel on, but they're gel (not sticker adhesive) so they remove easily when heated (just use a hair dryer) and with no sticky mess! So you can literally get the tiles off in twenty minutes or less with no bad side effects when you're ready to sell!

As for colour in your kitchen, I suggest going neutral with your walls and bringing out colour with accessories: Brightly coloured flowers, bowls of fruit, dishes, etc.
