What makes your small kitchen so cool?


One of the coolest things about our kitchen is its history. Our second floor studio apartment is in a giant house built in 1904 and what is now our window-filled kitchen was formerly a sleeping porch. Our neighborhood is filled with large trees and that is all you can see when you look out of the windows.

One challenge you overcame in your small kitchen, or a good resource you've found.


One challenge was with our favorite aspect of the kitchen, the windows. They let in a lot of great sunlight but at night they let in light from the streetlight. Finding a curtain rod that was long enough was very expensive so we made our own out of copper pipe fasteners and wooden dowels. We found thick yellow curtains that keep the space feeling open and bright during the day and also block the streetlight at night.

Favorite Meal to Cook in Kitchen


Our favorite thing to cook is pizza, we make it almost every week. Our kitchen isn't ideal for two people cooking simultaneously but when we make pizza, we know exactly how to work on it together.

This is a lovely kitchen. May I ask what paint is used; it seems to be a lovely off white, almost light green, color that is just wonderful.

This is gorgeous! It reminds of me of a second kitchen my grandmother had up stairs in her sun porch that I remember from the 60's. How nostalgic. I could just bask in a kitchen like this.

This is the kitchen to beat. The choice of full length curtains rather than "kitchen-y" window treatment is savvy and stylish. A well-curated, yet very personal space. Love it.

this is interesting to me, in part, because my kitchen has butter yellow cabinets and ivory/white walls. I keep trying to find a wall color to 'pop' the cabinets. your kitchen shows that soft and monochromatic can work well.
