Lindsay's White and Aqua Nashville Kitchen

Name:

Lindsay

Location:

Nashville, Tennessee

Division:

Own

Square Feet:

45

How many people live in home:

Two, myself and my husband, plus three cats.

What makes your small kitchen so cool?

It's open, so it doesn't feel nearly as small as it is. In the summers we don't have to turn on any lights until 8:00 at night. It's beautiful.

One challenge you overcame in your small kitchen, or a good resource you've found.

Storage. Our total of 3 1/2 cabinets (because the two practically non-existent cabinets above the fridge count as half a normal cabinet). We had no pantry. We had no storage for our dishes. So we had to get creative, using an old store shelving display under the stairs for dishware, and an inherited (and refinished by us) hutch in the hall as our pantry.

Favorite Meal to Cook in Kitchen

Dessert. Always dessert.

Beautiful. So much to love about this - my favorite is the giant ampersand.

Normally I am *so* not into the whole stainless-steel-and-granite deal, but I *love* how you've combined the modern trendiness with more traditional things... it looks clean AND cozy. Plus the openness is awesome.

I'm in LOVE with the fresh and simple appeal of this kitchen!! That "&" sign is to die for... and the color combo with the citron accents is oh so pretty. Favorited!! Hope this wins!

Love the design.

The placement of the fridge next to the oven seems like a bad energy efficiency choice, though.

As a Native Nashvillian who grew up in a ranch house, I never knew a Nashville kitchen could be so hip!

Thanks for the comments (and yes, this is Lindsay from Love & Olive Oil).

Our kitchen came as is (stove next to the fridge and all). We haven't done any major structural changes to it. Just decorating and adding pieces to make the most out of our limited storage space.

For all the ampersand lovers - there are 5 ampersands in the pictures above. Can you spot them? :)

I'm curious about the shelving below the stairs. How far is it from the closest step on the staircase? Does dirt and debris on the stairs end up settling on the items on the shelves sometimes?

Lovely kitchen! I especially love the color choices. What's the color/name of paint you used to refinish the hutch?
