580What I Love About My Home
One of my favorite things about our apartment is all of the original architectural details. From the hardwood floors throughout to the detail molding in our living room, I feel like these elements add a ton of character, and weâve tried to use that to our advantage while allowing it to inform our design aesthetic. The natural light is also stunning. One of my favorite things to do is have a cup of coffee in the kitchen while browsing through cookbooks on early weekend mornings while the sun pours in.
Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home
Editing. After living in a two bedroom apartment we had a lot of extra furniture and various other âstuffâ that was hard to part with. Some of it is still hidden around the apartment but most of it was sold on Craiglist or given away to friendsâand to be honestâI now donât miss much of it. Closet space was another one of our battles. We have three relatively small closets to house all of our odds and ends, including clothing. Thinking about the space vertically has been our saving grace.

I'm in LOVE with the moulding in the living room and the chalk-board wall. Particularly in the same place. Splendid!

When I saw the title of this post, I thought it meant a lesson in photo editing! Which still fits because I think this is the best selection of photos we've seen yet. I really get a wonderful feel for your place - well done! And what an unusual layout, I love unique layouts! Makes designing so much more fun. The relaxing colors are my favorite.

What is the paint color used for the BR? Love it!
And the chalkboard painted wall in the kitchen- do you recommend it? I'm thinking of painting my fridge in chalkboard paint, but not sure how dusty it might make things...

@darlingclementine--yes it is an ikea rast dresser that i refinished. you can check the post out on my blog handjobsforthehome.com
@Talya--I would totally recommend using chalkboard paint. I don't have an issue with the dustyness, I always use a wet rag to clean the wall.
Thanks for all the great comments, and votes!
