939What I Love About My Home
I love the history and mystery. My apartment was just recently renovated but many of the original details were kept in tact. The building was erected in 1881 as a business college. I have 16 ft. ceilings with nine 10ft windows. All the woodwork around the windows and the floor is original. It has an antique atmosphere with a modern spin. I have added to the antique feeling with bringing in my own hodge podge details, including antique store finds, thrifts, hand-made and hand-me-down furniture.
Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home
This was the first apartment that I have lived where I didn't know exactly where I envisioned all of my things before I moved in. I had to move my furniture around numerous times before I got the "aha moment"

Wow, gorgeous! I think you did a really nice job pairing furniture and decorative items with the original "bones" of the apartment-- it breaks my heart to see gorgeous carved window casings paired with ultra-modern curtains. The space has kept its warmth and spaciousness.

Great place! I love the windows and floors (and so much of the rest of it), and I, too, want to know the story of the dining room table.

The dining room table was a local antique store find. I bought it as is. The only thing I did was dust it off. If you look closely, you will see the previous owner spray painted their Halloween skeleton on top of the table. I am not sure if this was on accident or purpose but it made it a very interesting piece of furniture.

Absolutely lovely. I love your choice of furnishings. I do wish we could have seen the kitchen, though, just out of curiosity.

Brandy, don't feel bad about Mello1's comments. Your place is awesome. Go to Mello1's page and read the comments he or she has left for others. Too funny! It's like one of the judges from project runway! Auf Wiedersehen! ROFL!

Your floors are beautiful. I love that you've used a bookshelf as a shoe rack--so creative.
I think you've done a nice job at making the place feel like a home, even with the TALL ceilings. That is definitely something I struggle with in my place--and you have 4 more feet to work with!
