620What I Love About My Home
Even though it's a small space, I have high ceilings and wall-to-wall windows that let in lots of light and make the space feel open and fresh. I also love the views of Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto.
Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home
The living room is very narrow and I ran into some problems fitting a proper amount of seating into the space. I've finally come to the layout I have now, and entertaining can be tight, but is comfortable as long as I clean up clutter on a regular basis.

I really like your choice of bedside tables and lamps. I wish that there was more colour involved, but the bits that we do see our lovely, including the pillows and poster. I kind of wish that you had posted some crisper pictures to really see the details of the space.

Nice and clean and open. Love the airy feel it has.

Some color please.

It does look clean and bright - and wow, a view of a lake, lucky you!
I think some pops of colour or at least some hints of your personality would be really nice to see.

That is a very nice apartment. Jeremy will probably learn to appreciate color. I also like dark wood but live in 547 square feet. Last year when I redid the hardwood floors I went with natural maple--not because they are popular or in style but because they don't rob the small space of reflective light.

A 6'X7' "den"?

I really like the color choices here. The color choices have a very calm feeling to me.
You've done a great job making your living room feel much wider than it actually is!

Beautiful apartment, your furniture layout is divine. I would like to see more color or at least light fabrics/furniture. A light beidge rug and perhaps a mirror hung above your TV, could do a great job opening up the space and brighten it. Does everyone in this competition have the poster "Keep calm and carry on"... think I've seen it in about 4 entries alreay, but still very cute!

@crayfish.....you obviously are not too familiar with the cost of real estate in Toronto. A very large portion of the condo market consists of expats from the east......Japan, China, India, Hong Kong; Bedroom sizes really don't mean much to people who live in lakeside/downtown condos in Toronto. Another thing to consider is that not everyone shares your tastes and needs. Reading your comments I find that you do a lot of complaining and not much complimenting.

@yul: You'd be surprised by what you can do in a small den. Mine is a 5x7, and I have my 4' long desk, a 3 1/2' sewing table, and two bookshelves in here! And there is still plenty of space for storage. You just have to be creative with furniture arrangement.
@crayfish: That bedroom size is fine. My husband and I could make that work without any trouble. We're rarely in the bedroom - it's solely for clothing storage, sleeping, and ...newlywed sleeping.
The only big change I would make is to reverse the living room. It already has great flow to the outside, but I'd rather the door be blocked by couch than entertainment unit (it also might work better if you had a larger entertainment unit or needed to add shelving).

Since the existing matte in the Ikea frame crops the Carry On poster in a weird way why not just put the poster on top of the matte?
It would also add a tiny bit more colour too!

I for one love balconies and love that there is one right outside your bedroom with tonnes of light.
You got my Toronto vote!!! :)

@crayfish I know what you mean. I think we need balconies to make us feel better for living in these little compartmentalized downtown boxes.
The cost of real estate in Toronto is nothing compared to other major cities. I have many friends who live downtown in condos like this and pay relatively affordable rent. Downtown, a lake view, gym, pool, sauna, luxury fixtures... My friend does a penthouse loft-style condo unit for $2000 a month with a beautiful balcony view of the harbourfront. What is that in NYC? A first floor studio?

Ooh...classy, elegant, minimal, neutral tones and a modern kitchen.
When can I move in?

Did you use pictures taken at a different time? I wanted to see the frames above the couch but your next picture doesn't have them at all :/
oh well.. looks good!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm definitely working on bringing more pieces with colour into the space :)

Nice space, full of potential. Could definitely use some artwork, but I think the owner is off to a great start.

this has some good bones, i think if you had some more of the "right" accessories and some more art, you would have more votes!

yes more art would definitely add a lot. great start though! love the pillows on the bed, where are they from? i think the layout you've got in the liv room works great. and i too would happily sacrifice the bedroom sq. footage for outdoor space. being able to sit outside on a gorgeous day adds so much! take advantage :)
