980What I Love About My Home
My partner and I both fell in love with our mid-century condo, built for the Seattle World's Fair as an example of modern architecture. Our apartment is bathed in natural light afforded by wraparound windows even during Seattle's many overcast days. We've been slowly doing all the renovations ourselves as time and budget permits, including a full gut of the kitchen, refinishing all the floors, and bathrooms. Our style is eclectic, with modern blending with flea market. We like entertaining and making our home feel welcoming, cozy and lived-in.
Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home
There have been many challenges in creating our home, but by far, the small galley kitchen was the most daunting. It took five times longer than we anticipated, it was difficult to work in such tight quarters, and because none of the walls were square, we faced lots of frustrating times in trying to creatively squeeze in our cabinets. There were weeks where we had to either eat out, or creatively assemble dinner in the guest bathroom. We can both pick out small mistakes we made during the trial and error process, but that is both the joy and reality of DIY. Overall, it's been a labor of love, and it makes our space more personal with lots of stories to tell.

Where are the bookcases/shelves in the living room from? I have been wanting something similar for quite a while?

Boys will be boys (the bed!) but the place is adorable and that rug in the living room is EVERYTHING!!!! Where can I get it please?

Love the grasscloth in the bedroom! Would change the bedding to suit it, but that's just my personal taste :) Great place!

Also, what is with rude comments. It's hilarious how the two comments above my original one are examples of how to, and not to, say something!

I agree with cvgmiami! Where can we find that wonderful rug?!

Love it! I love the different colored art in the frames between the dinning area and the living area. Are those poems? Great way to add color.

You had me from Hello. Actually you had me from the moment I saw the rug in the living room. The color of the couch is divine and I love the pop of orange color.
Can you do something to warm up the kitchen or give it more style?
The bathroom, especially with that mirror, is stunning.
The bedroom seems a different style from the rest of the place.

I am in love with the furniture in your living room! The turquoise couch, the orange stool, and the absolutely breath-taking rug! LOVE! Where is the rug from? As a fellow Small Cool Contestant (Ellie's Carriage House), I would love to add a rug to my living room and I think yours in amazing.

@azaleasmoke Thanks for that link! The chevron rug was also what drew me in at first. Though I'm pretty keen on the bathroom mirror and the marble vanity top as well. I really loved this apartment, great job Stephen!

Nice! The mirror is lov-er-ly.
But, 930 sq ft for a condo is not small. Lol. I think Apartment Therapy needs a reality check for condo sizes! x

I really like the living room and the eclectic feel. The first two picture are great, the bedroom lost it but very nice otherwise.

I'm in love with the living room! Where did you get the shelving unit (the one the TV is sitting on)?

Just like many others - the rug = swoon-age.

What color paint did you use in the bathroom, por favor?

The colors are divine. You hit bright with the perfect balance of white and color without eliminating the dark colors! Beautiful!
And I want your bathroom.

Hi guys,
This living room is fabulous, nothing matches but it is absolutely harmonious, bravo, it is not an easy thing to accomplish.

There are waaaaaay to many details here for 5 photos. Of course you have my vote, but will you please invite the AT staff in for a proper House Tour? Pretty please?

The sunshine is Seattle is concentrated completely in your lovely apartment.
HA! Good one.
I'm curious as to what building you live in! (As a fellow Seattlite.) I promise not to stalk you. :)

Jettsam, you probably thought you were being clever, but instead you just came across as b*tchy.
I agree with the previous post that mentioned the bedroom doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the house. That being said, I love your living and dining room. I'm OBSESSED with the turquoise couch.

Can we stop pretending this is an etiquette blog and correcting each others' manners? Just talk about the pictures.

Love, love and love the rug. Please tell me how to get it. I live downtown Seattle.

If people could learn how to talk about the pictures nicely, we wouldn't feel the need to defend the people who are kind enough to share a piece of their lives with us by correcting each others' manners.
I love sooooo much about this place! The rug, the art, the couch, the bathroom. Very nice :)

I'm so incerdibly impressed with this home, right up until I get to the bedroom pic. I think it might be ready to be vamped up so it matches the rest of this AMAZING apartment! Maybe when it is we"ll get to see it?

Count me as another Seattle resident curious about what building this is. I'm moving into an apartment from the same era, and I hope I can make it look half as good.
