What I Love About My Home

We knew our home was "the one" as soon as we saw the windows. With west facing windows in the living space and east facing windows where we sleep, there is certainly no lack of sunlight! The natural light combined with our love of dimmers sets a fun, easy tone for friendly gatherings - or moody and romantic for movie nights in.

Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home

My husband, Scott, and I, have spent close to four years turning our contractors-beige-box in to a place we love to call home. We've created storage in unlikely spaces (from bikes on the ceiling to hallway storage above doors) and have spent time tweaking every nook so it fits who we are. A base of paint, wallpaper, and window treatments combined with back-alley finds and our love for DIY has turned our seemingly "perfect"-khaki-box into a home that reflects our sometimes clashing personalities!

Very nice, fresh and airy. I really enjoy the contrast of bold colours and the more subdued ones. Plus who wouldn't love an orange elephant!!

Really great. Did you make the media centre yourselves? If so, do you have a tutorial on what you did? Love it!

what great light! I love the media center. I wish your kitchen cabinets weren't so new-looking because I love the character of the rest of the house.

Hi thisismyname, we just finished the media wall last week, but don't really have a full blown tutorial on how we did it (since it was so personally customized to our space). We did chat about it quite a bit on our blog, yellowbrickhome.com though!

Hope that helps a little!

What is the blue paint? The one in the main photo- living room... I would love that exact shade for our breezeway!

Hi azstar, that red floor lamp is from Pottery Barn a few years ago, although I noticed a VERY similar one at Ikea just yesterday! It came in chrome or red, like ours.

We also have a source list for our entire home:

Hope this helps!

Your blog has me hooked, too. Great job all around!
