680What I Love About My Home
We love how our cottage style apartment created a cozy atmosphere that definitely feels like home. We have incorporated trinkets & treasures from our travels, interests and hobbies all around the home to always remind us of our favorite things and fond memories. At the same time, the hardwood floors all throughout the place, built-in mailbox, built-in ironing board and having a formal dining room within the 680 sq ft place were definitely huge pluses!
Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home
Moving from an almost 1000 sq ft apartment to a 680 sq ft apartment was already a challenge to start with. We had to get rid of some of our old stuff here & there and start back from scratch. From there, finding the right pieces to put together without spending a fortune could by far be our biggest challenge. Our home is now a mix style of Thrift Stores + Ikea + Mid-range Furniture Shop + Flea Market Scavenger Finds. It has just been a month since moving so the craft room and kitchen are still a work-in-progress. I wish we could share more photos, but here are some from us to share and for you to enjoy.

Your sofa is beautiful, and the van on the floor in the living room is awesome. You have a very nice decorating touch.

I really like this space A LOT! Perfect layout. Your design still is great because it's warm, uncluttered, and it looks like a comfortable home. Great work!

Fun, cute, personal. A bit trendy but unpretentious. Your kitchen is charming and the shelves remind me of my aunt's farmhouse and it makes me happy and it looks so...comforting. Love it. But please, GET RID OF YOUR BED FRAME. Sorry. When I look at it I hear the Seinfeld theme song.

You're off to a good start! Since it's a work-in-progress, I'd consider going for a larger scale rug to define the living room space and give it an anchor. There's a little too much wood element between the gorgeous floors, the wood blinds, and the wood furniture.

Looks great! Where did you get that yellow mirror in the living room? I've been looking for one just like that...

This is delightfully calming! I can imagine that it is a great retreat from the color, chaos, and heat of LA.
I do think that your living room could benefit from a pair of small scale but comfy chairs...right now it looks as though the only conversations that take place in that room are between you and the TV ;-)

Oh...and I love all of the round things in the bedroom. Dot art, dresser knobs, bed frame spheres, curtain grommets. Geometric echoes of wholeness and calm.

I was wondering about your lamp on the buffet. Where did you get the base and the shade? I have been looking for a slender shade. Cute!

thanks again for all the love!
@Shera2316 - If you are referring to the oval mirror in the Living Room, that is actually a DIY project! It was a black ikea frame that I spray painted beige and had the mirror customized.
@Nancy_Claire - we got a big (good for 2) accent chair on clearance... but it was after these photos were submitted. i would have loved to share more of our work-in-progress. i might share a link with the rest of the house and some more details. thanks for all the compliments.
@linlinstar - the base was an old base we had from Ikea, then from our last visit also at Ikea, we found this tall shade that we thought was perfect for the space.
