850What I Love About My Home
I love that my apartment is always airy and light...even on a rainy day. I started decorating my apartment from scratch....having moved in with a few lamps and unframed art. I love that the only thing purchased from a furniture store was my couch and my bed....everything else has a story. It's a collection of pieces from 1st Dibs, Housing Works, EBay and my favorite antique stores in NYC and Stamford.
Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home
The hardest part was getting started, followed by being patient. Once the couch arrived, it was easier to start filling in the other pieces. Right now, stopping is the biggest challenge!

J'adore!!!! Instant TOP favorite! Definitely apply for a full house tour.
I'm in the place you were when you first started out. I've started from scratch, and it's so hard to be patient and let it grow naturally, editing, and putting love into each piece.
If my space turns out ANYTHING like yours, I will consider myself successful. :)

Very elegant. I want know more about your dining benches. At first I thought it was a day bed then I noticed it is your dining table and cushioned benches...love it! :)

I really like this but I wish the camera angles were bigger. Can't get a sense of any of the rooms really. Sigh.

This is beautiful! I love how it's really elegant and marries classical and modern in such great harmony. The large scale artwork set over the sofa is very nice. :)

odd "dog's eye level" camera angles.

Your dog took these? Oooh, what kind of dog?

You have some lovely pieces.
So funny, I couldn't really see your glass dining table at first so thought I was looking at an opium bed like piece and thought, oh, that's interesting. She doesn't sleep on it cause there is clearly a bed in the bedroom, I wonder why... Then I saw another commenter mention your benches and got it.

You have some great taste. It's like every piece has it's own glory, but they don't overwhelm each other. Love it!

Liz, I love love love it. Got so inspired I finally registered so I could comment and ask you where you found that bench in the entryway. White "X" bench with thick pillow on top... Please share - I'm looking for something just like it and have had no success.

LOVE this apartment. Amazing fabric choices and the lamps are incredible. Even the smallest details all fit with the incredible style - nothing has gone unnoticed. I love that Liz started from scratch and everything came from different places. She has absolutely incredible taste!

Thank you for all of the great comments. Here are some answers to your questions...
The drawings of the TV and of lower Manhattan (above the couch) are by an artist named Joan Linder. You can find her work at www.mixedgreens.com
The X-Bench in the entryway is from eBay. I had it painted a light blue and reupholstered.
I wish that I had submitted a better picture of the dining table. It is a Lucite base with a glass top...I didn't realize how hard to it was to see that it was a table until after I had submitted everything. The bamboo benches are from an antique store in NYC.

Hi Liz:
If we didn't know what a fabulous job you did on your house in Connecticut we wouldn't have believed what a great job you have done with your city home.
Can't wait to visit. Is MacMurphy invited?

Liz -
I love the sofa; could you advise as to where you got it? We recently changed our apt to a light grey (7 walls) and 1 dark grey wall with a raisin colored pass thru on kitchen. But no sofa as yet but yours would be perferct! :))
