780What I Love About My Home
My Home is pure love. My origin. Where I start from and where I end, The beginning and the end of my day. When all is not right with my home all is not right with me. I love that in NYC I have the luxury of a modern kitchen (with dishwasher!) and a walk in closet! Also I love that my Kitty is always waiting here to greet me after a long day.
Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home
I was one of the first tenants to move into my huge empty new building. My unit lacked character and a story. It seriously was when I was reading Maxwell's 8 step cure and saw the question, "what would your apartment say to you if it could speak?", that I heard my apartment scream " Give me a story, Make me different and unique!" My challenge was to give my cookie cutter space a soul.

Classy and feminine. For me, this strikes the perfect balance: it's neither stark nor overdecorated. Love the pink kitchen!

It looks like it has been there a while... success! Also, what's the paint colour in the bathroom please?

Where is the couch from? Name, details?

Lindsay here, thanks everyone for your generous comments. My sofa is the hathaway sofa from room and board in bone. It's a few years old and has held up very well, I definitely recommend. The bathroom paint color is Behr paint and primer all in one in retro avocado. Very vibrant!

The textures and colors in the bedroom are my favorite part - they work together beautifully. (Not to mention the pink kitchen!)

Cute details but would have loved to see more long shots of the space

It ain't a cookie-cutter space no more! Love your furnishings and the colors you chose and admire how brave you were to go with a pink kitchen - more power to ya.
Where did you get your bedside tables? I only have 10-inches on each side of my bed and those would be perfect!

Wow - pink kitchen is awesome! A bold choice, but I bet it makes you happy every day. :)
I would love to see a wider shot of the living room - the couch wall and the TV wall are so different, I want to see how they interact in the room as a whole.

eclectic-chick, I think the bedside tables are from Pier 1. If they're not, they have very similar ones there.

This is lovely! Of all the entries I've seen, this one most closely mirrors my own style sensibilities. I love it and would gladly a house tour of your apartment.

Is your starbust mirror the "Horchow Cyrus Sunburst Mirror" that was in one of AT's mirror lists a while back?
(That was my favorite of the various choices - I like seeing it in action, if it is the same one.)
view emmelemm's profile
Lindsay here, my sunburst mirror is from zgallerie but I did a lot of investigating before I bought it and I think it is the exact same mirror that horchow sells, but z is cheaper!!

I love your pink kitchen, yellow comforter and bedside lamps. Your style is a very sophisticated feminine.
My space is very similar to yours! About the same square footage and split into two, one side for bath/sleep and the other side for dine/live. However, instead of a wall my long narrow walk in closet separates the two halves. I felt like I was looking at my own floor plan.

I just love this! Your use of space and color is so clever, and I LOVE the crown on your coffee table - such a subtle statement.

Your home definitely has a soul. Love it!

Basically I have the same exact problem as you. The layout of my apartment is SO BORING. Everything is ancient in mine though, no dishwasher, not even enough counter space for a microwave and coffee pot. Seeing your place gives me hope as well.

The art work over the couch is lovely.

Lovely artwork over the sofa.
I keep seeing entries like this one where each picture seems as though it belongs in a different apartment. I believe cohesion would yield a much more beautiful and livable effect.
This entry has too much cleverness and not enough harmony.

Where did you get the comforter for your bed? It's just lovely.

Terry-
I got my comforter at HomeGoods last Spring. In was by a brand called Hillcrest I believe. HG has such great priced bedding!!!

I have the same bedding!!! Love it!! Also, love the wall colour in the bedroom - I went with lavender in mine and it has a similar effect. You're right, it is Hillcrest, and in Canada, I bought mine at Winners. Thanks so much for sharing, and I'm definitely going to scope out your other pics!
