What I Love About My Home


I love how cheerful and homey it feels. I also like the details it has as an older Athens apartment, like the large windows and checkerboard floor in the kitchen. It's also larger than most one-bedrooms in Athens, which is certainly a plus. It's a great place to share with my terrier-mix, Oliver.

Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home


My apartment doesn't have very much architectural detail and the ceilings are not very high (8 ft), so it was a struggle to give it some interest and keep it from looking too much like a cave. A trick that I used was hanging my curtains at ceiling height to bring your eyes up. It's remarkable what it will do for your space!

I have the same kitchen floor, love it! I think you did a fantastic job of creating height in your place, looks much higher than 8ft.

This looks absolutely lovely.
We had similar problems with height - since we're in a basement, our ceilings are 8 feet in the living room, bathroom and bedroom, but 7 feet in the hallway and office. We just accentuated the cave-like areas, and made it really cozy.

I love your place. And the fact that you ride. You've given me new ideas for what to do with the ribbons I can't stand to leave in storage. Oh and being a fellow Athenian helps too. I'm moving to a crazy old farmhouse in the Boulevard in July and these pics are inspiring my plans for my new place. Good job!
