What I Love About My Home

What I love about my small cool home is that it put me in a mode of minimalism, yet it does not compromise my ability to express myself creativity.

Biggest Challenge in Furnishing My Home

My biggest challenge furnishing my small cool home was trying to make everything fit into such a small space without it feeling cluttered. I wanted to make sure that it felt like there was seperation from the bedroom and living space so it felt like a real home and not like a sacrifice of capacity.

Love the colors! Good job. I can't believe this space is only 270 square feet. What an amazing job making this teeny tiny space feel like a home!

It is amazing that you were able to fit two couches in your place. Great job!

Yeah I agree with the above. It's amazing you can fit the 2 nice couches in there! And your apartment doesn't look too small!
Believe me! I've a small townhouse and I can't seem to fit 2 full size couches without blocking anything!

Great job in dividing the space! And vibrant color seems to be a good choice for a small space!

Love the colors and LOVE how much the kitchen is focal...I'm slightly suspicious of the apartments and places that have conveniently left out the kitchen or bath in their pics. Everyone knows that even in a studio, guests end up in the kitchen, so why would anyone neglect it! <3 this!

I always don't see how this is minimalistic.

The bathroom picture should have been taken from a different angle.

I think this is a great cozy space. Like others, I'm digging the vibrant colors and incorporation of the Latin heritage into the decor. Also props for including the Misfits Crimson Ghost.

Nice use of the couch layout to reinforce the separation of the living and sleeping space.

If I were to offer a suggestion, it would be to reduce the amount of tables. The full coffee table might be sacrificed in order to free up a little more space.

Why I voted for it

1. Layout and use of very small space. It seems like a lot more space than you actually have.
2. Kid Cudi posters (not really but I do love Kid Cudi)

This isn't minimalism--as I generally find minimalism dull and predictable and this is neither. A charming and colourful space, filled with personality. It must make you happy to come home each day to such a nest.

I adore your kitchen, so cute! The color of your couch and love seat is so warm and vibrant!! I agree with Aexley however, removing the two tables stacked next to your bookcase, would open up the space a bit more.

Melissa, your place is cute but by no means minimal. In fact it is a little cluttered. I think it would look fab without about half of your possessions edited. How long have you been living there? It takes a while to find the right balance in a small place. I'd definitely get braver and more ruthless in letting some things go.

I am so glad you took the bull by the horns and embraced full color in a small place. The kitchen is the best part of the house. I love the Day of the Dead stuff in there. I wanted to buy some of that when I went to Mexico but it was too expensive even withe exchange rate.

your apartment is so colorful and full of life and looks much larger than its square footage. i'd love to see a house tour (mostly because i want a closer look at the gallery of art near the kitchen)! where did you get your black-and-white rugs?

Use a daybed / sofabed to sleep, study, dine and entertain.
Store items in covered baskets beneath furniture.
Replace an entire office and all media with a handheld computer - work anywhere at any time.

Vertical storage is claustrophobic and cluttering.
Bureaus, closets, desks, shelving, cupboards and tables may not be needed.
A separate bedroom, office, dining room and living room may not be needed.
