Brittney's "Sunshine Cascadia" Room

Sunshine Cascadia

Seattle, Washington

Colors Used

Apple green, grey, white

Color Inspiration

The Pacific Northwest is grey and dim most of the year, so I wanted a bright, colorful interior to help counteract the outside's sometimes-dismal mood. The colors actually reflect those in Seattle's natural environment - green forests, grey clouds - but give them a little kick to liven things up.

Color Tips

Be bold! And remember that if you hate it, you can always paint over it.

I like the colors, furnishings, art, and storage choices. A practical room that is beautiful too.

I know gray is all the rage out there right now but when you live in areas that are mostly gray days, you need that pop of color. Great job!

Looking at the first picture I thought these colours were too much, but by the last one you had won me over!

LOVE: The color! The pooches! The blue in the stair landing! The artwork!
Don't love: No lightswitch cover on the switch by the front door. I know, I know, you'll get to it.... I'm just detail oriented that way ;-)
Nice room!

Thanks everyone!
Laura: I actually went to put a lightswitch cover on before I took the photos, but I found I liked the sort of industrial look the switches had without one. My husband is worried it's a safety hazard, though, so the cover will probably go on soon :)

Whoa, I love that floor lamp! I’ve been searching for something similar. Where is it from?

I am curious. Are the colors just as bright in person as they are on the monitor?
If so , then I'm jealous that people with walls this bright don't get migraines from it.

Meusli - The wall color really varies a lot with the weather and lighting outside. This is "bright midday sun" color. When it's darker or overcast, the green comes across more olive.

SonjaJ - The lamp is from West Elm. One of my favorite pieces in the house!

That's a bold color...but looks nice with all the neutrals.

Go team bold colors! Seriously, green is so tough, this is the perfect application in the cheeriest way.

LOVE the green - and the pop of blue in the hall. Great flow and contrast (a fine balance)! I figure I could move right in, which is the basis for all my voting!
