Color Inspiration
Having moved recently from New York City to South Florida during one of the harshest winters, my husband and I were excited to incorporate bright, fun colors into our new space. Given that this apartment is a rental, we wanted to use maximum amount color with minimal painting. Enlisting the help of my sister, I became obsessed with a colorful, striped fabric we found at our local fabric store, Boca Bargoons. We used the fabric for pillows and also decided to translate it into an accent wall in the dining/living room area. When we found amazing fuschia, leather dining chairs, they cemented the bright color obsession. Finally, we decided to incoprorate black accents to tone down the cotton-candy sweetness of the colors. My husband is not as in love with the bright pinks as I am but he loves the overall effect. As do I.
Color Tips
When it comes to color, my attitude is jump right in and go for it! You can always paint over it or tone things down.

Love the poppy art and the wall vases. This is such a chic and pretty room. The highest level of flower power because it's so bold and yet elegant and not over the top.

Love the use of black - this does not read at all as a feminine "pretty in pink" sort of room, since the black and the furnishings keep it strong (yet graceful) and the pinks are really well chosen. Amazing that you could put this together in a rental space-- it looks so welcoming. & Lucky you to have a sister's help.

Wow, striped colorful walls, I love what you did! I don't think I've seen a wall done like yours. Also love the two pieces with the colorful squares. I'm voting for you.

wondering where that art with the squares came from. seems like you could DIY with carpet samples, but the effect is so vibrant and textured!

fun! i would change the ottoman color to match the green wall stripe and then it would match your couch pillows as well and tone down the pink just a touch more.

Wow! I really dislike the artwork, the vase and most of the furniture but the stripes are so super awesome! You should have extended they throughout the whole apt. They look SO cool!

such fun colors - i love the stripes! i too moved from nyc to south florida and i've been grappling with how to incoporate more color in our home. i'm such a beige/cream/gray girl but it feels so wrong in miami, ha.
