Molly's "Moody Glam" Room

Moody Glam

Name:

Molly

Location:

Atlanta, Georgia

Division:

South

Colors Used

Navy Black Red Ecru/White Gold

Color Inspiration

The oriental rug I have belonged to my grandparents. I loved the colors, but wanted to make a more modern room around it. I pulled the navy out for the walls and contrasted it with black, which I think is very current. I love how the blacks reflect the blue---to where you almost can't tell the difference. I wanted a bit of red to pop. And lots of white to keep things light. Brass and gold accents go a bit over the top, completely on purpose. The art is vibrant and fun to keep it from being too formal.

Color Tips

Pick a palette and stick with it. Repeat colors often enough so they look intentional. Make neutrals work hard to ground the space, and let the colors be the personality.

I love the color contrast of the nightstand and wall color.

That rug is so gorgeous as a starting place, and I love that you balance it with a mixture of somber and glam.

So many awesome things about this room, but my favorite is the pair of black and gold lamps. I love the way they complement each other! Nice job!

Wow! This is one of my favourites so far! The look is simple but chic and dramatic. It's very high impact but so cozy. I love it!

So funny - if this room had been described to me I wouldn't have thought I wouldn't like it at all. But actually, it's so beautiful! I love stumbling across design that challenges my ideas.

I would love to know where the horse sculpture came from.

Goddess, the horse sculpture (otherwise known as Leeroy Jenkins) is part Homegoods, part Home Depot (spray paint.) You can read his birth story here:
