Color Inspiration

The color of our bed linens and the print by Parvez Taj. I knew I wanted to keep the green as a main color, but it felt pretty safe. Our last home had neutral walls, and I knew that I wanted to take more risks with paint colors in our new house. I also wanted colors that were invigorating and fresh. I played with a color wheel online, and found out that fuchsia/magenta was at the opposite end of the color spectrum. I almost painted the wall behind the bed magenta, but in the end I decided to go with bold green walls and use fuchsia for the curtains and accents.

Color Tips

First, don't be afraid of color. I haven't taken big color risks in the past, but this is my first bold decorating decision and I just love it. I decided that I don't care if I end up hating the color combination in a few years - I can always change it. Also, spend the four dollars on paint samples! I think I bought about seven different ones before I decided on the right shade of green. The walls looked crazy for a few weeks, but I ended up with a color I love.

The chair is so perfect in that room. A nice, gutsy color choice. Well done!

Love this! I have this color scheme in my living room, so I'm biased. :)

I like how the wood dressers ground the space. The colors are definitely intense, but they work. Good for you.

I love the bright, airy feeling this combination creates. Obviously, so does the dog!
