Color Inspiration


I was initially inspired by the candy colored steel kitchens of the 50's and 60's when picking cabinet colors for our California Ranch home. I used a "swingin' sixties" ice bucket handed down from my Grandmother as the color basis. (You can see it on the shelf above the table.) Only after picking the color did people begin to comment that it looked liked Tiffany Boxes... an association that only deepened with the addition of silver nickel pulls.

Cheerful and clean. Love that it looks modern without the sterility that seems popular in kitchens these days. This is actually totally different from anything I would do, but I envy your talent in creating this space - my own kitchen decor skills are embarrassing.

Would you please share the source for that clock (love it & it's placement}? I never would have thought to put it there thinking it would be too big for the space. Genius! Adore the chairs, too.

I have the same blue in my kitchen! I pair it with a sunny retro yellow and it looks really nice. But yes, as people are saying, I love how this give more of a retro look to a kitchen that could otherwise look cold and modern.

Even though the colors are bright and high-contrast, I found the room very restful -- if that's an appropriate description for a work area. Among the other entries, this one made me just relax and go "ahhhhhh."
