Color Inspiration
The artwork about the dresser. It's an image I had in my head for a while and I knew I wanted the room to compliment it so I needed colors that wouldn't fight with it. The orange is to intense that I only needed one other pop of it which came in the chair pillow. I wanted the room to be tranquil and calming and so far, it's my favorite room in the apartment. This used to be the room that I wanted to get out of as soon as I woke up cause I just didn't feel anything for it.
Color Tips
Don't think of colors as being on the same plane. Even though it may be a flat wall, I like some colors to be in the background, so to speak, while others jump to the front. You can create a lot of depth that way.

Love the pattern on the bottom half of the wall. Is this a stencil? How was it created.

Thanks for the positive comments!
The design on the bottom wall is a stencil I made out of contact paper. It's a pattern I kept seeing when I was looking for moroccan designs.
Here's a better look of the art on the wall. The print came out a lot darker than I wanted so you can see all of the detail here:

Murasakiss, LOL. I know but I wanted them both in it so there they are. I guess that's why it's an illustration and not a photograph. :-)

Great space Graham! I'd love to know where you got the storage unit below the TV if you remember. Thanks!

Thanks lmccartney,
I made it out of poplar. It's covered with zebra wood contact paper on the top and lined with white contact paper inside.
The legs are Ikea, Capita 6".

You are so talented...the room is so serene, but interesting...and the use of orange is perfect.

Yes! This is what I've been looking for in all these room submissions. Perfect balance and depth, calming and exciting all at the same time. I'd love to have this room!

Late reply, hoping for an answer:
Where did you get that armchair in the corner of the room?
