Lezlee's "Preppy Acid" Room
The main color is Dunn Edwards "Leprechaun" (which frankly I wish were called "grass" or something), the white trim is Dunn Edwards "Whisper", and the yellow & pink accent pieces are Dunn Edwards "Summer Sun" and "Hot Bubblegum".
After my recent divorce I really wanted a bedroom that felt totally my own, and these are the colors in the 80s I really wanted in my room, so I've reverted to my teens a little bit here. It's kind of preppy on acid. I know it's bold, but I absolutely love it, and it has been a place of healing for me.
I always go with the method of putting up lots of paint chips and slowly pulling off the ones I know aren't going to work. Light at different times of the day makes such a difference. I always give myself at least a week or 2 to live with the paint chips. The first week I don't even pull any off the wall, I just start to make tally marks on the ones I think I like most. Sometimes a color you like initially will end up not working once you've lived with it for a week or two. I rarely end up with a color I don't like when I use this method. It works just as well on exterior colors too.
