I wanted this room (which is tiny for six people-2 adults and 4 teenagers) to pop when one would catch a glimpse of it from the kitchen and the living room. Like a little blue-green jewel box. Our little bungalow seems like a cottage to me and I wanted the look to be charming and modern at the same time. Once the aqua went onto the walls, the white table seemed blah and I couldn't wait to punch it up with bright orange. I love it!!

Color Tips


Start with a color you looooooove, don't be afraid and just go for it. Don't overuse one color and don't feel the need to match shades. Offset bright colors with neutrals or white with some natural elements added into the mix.

This really is a jewel box, and one of the few entries where I can actually see the colours listed used extensively in the room. You've got my vote!

Overall I love this room! If I could change one thing I would put in french doors, but that's just me. Your actual style/choices are spot on!

Viveca - French doors are definitely on my list of things do to and would have been done this year but.....leaking roof ended that little dream. There is always next year though.

Love this, so happy and full of life. We are about to go blue with our living room, but have been concerned because we have orangey hues in our chairs. You are helping to give us peace of mind. Great job!

Thank you all for the lovely compliments. The painting of the flowers was scored at.........wait for it..................Rona Hardware store. Saw it.....had to have it. Just goes to show that if you only buy or collect those things that really speak to you and that you find beautiful and fascinating to look at then everything tends to flow together nicely.
