I painted the cabinets a color called woodlawn charm but had white walls for several months and then one day it just hit me...I wanted to paint the kitchen a deep purple. I love how it pops with the subway tile and the white trim.

Color Tips


You probably won't get it right the first time, it has taken me lots of tweaking to get it right. The colorwheel is available for a reason, opposites do attract and compliment one another.

If not for the close-up picture of the unfinished (or just poor) paint job behind the mixer.... :( It's a pretty nifty kitchen, though.

Love the aqua a lot, esp. w/ the white cabinets, black counter and brushed nickel handles. The purple is kind of jarring, and I'm not a fan of orange, but it does add a lot of ebnergy.

I couldn't agree more with your comments about my unfinished edge...that was definitely an oops photo and I didn't mean to show it. By the way the paint has since been fixed. Thanks for bringing my attention to it.

How surprised was I to see this! I live in an apartment which has old countertops with a mint green I'm desperately seeking a color pattern for. This could be perfect and fit well with the colors of my living room... and I live in Toledo! How wild.

Great kitchen! i love the aqua. I am not sure if that purple color is too dark to go with the aqua.
