This summer I gut-renovated the kitchen in my 1920's condo. Green is my favorite color, and I spent a long time looking for a shade that would set off the newly-white antique cupboard and sleek gray cabinets, and be friendly and inviting, too. I actually used three closely related greens, hoping to create subtle differences in color and depth. The interior of the cupboard is a yellow-gold to set off my favorite china, with a bright orange horizontal stripe just for fun.

Color Tips


Notice the colors that attract you -- not just in rooms but in nature, fashion, even food -- and let them inspire you. I kept the hard-to-change elements -- cabinets, counter, and newly uncovered heart-pine floor -- neutral; then I added a ton of color with wall paint and dishes and so forth.

Nicely done. Not my style but I think it works. The green and orange play off each other nicely. I especially like the display composition in your glass cabinets.

That is probably the most perfect shade of green I've ever seen. I got here on the suggestion of a friend because I'm getting ready to fix up my apartment. I'll have to check out this paint.
