Tim's "Yellow, Grey, Blue" Living Room
Yellow, Grey, Blue
ICI: Wedding White (Walls) ICI: White Huskey (Trim) Para Paint: Vista, SR25 (Accent wall)
Inspired by all the colors, patterns, and textures on TV and design magazines, I decided to go bold and mixed in fabrics of different textures (silk, linen, suede, cotton) in shades of grey, yellow, and green on sofa, custom pillows, and drapes. I also paired all these patterns with a playful rug. The lamp shade on the side table lamp was fine but I wanted to add more interest to it and had it tied in better with the overall colour scheme. So I added two thin bands of yellow linen taped on the rims.
Pick the color combination you love and play with the different shades of these colors, either on wall, or fabrics for drapes and pillows, or area rug. Be Bold on elements that are easy to change. That way, you can change the feel of your room easily over different seasons without big financial commitment. One trick I used for myself is to do pillows with different designs on both sides. When it's time to change from summer to fall, just turn the pillow around!
