It's lovely if you're looking at the sofa.
I wish the entire room were painted brown - It would be so much more dramatic and impactful.

Yellow Shark and Lady J, both the table and the rug were Craigslist scores. The genuine Moroccan Berber rug (11' x 8') was just $150 and the table, which originally came with a brass tray top (likely Indian), was just $100.

bepsf, I agree that the room would benefit from all the walls being brown but it's a rental and I likely won't be staying beyond my first one-year lease (hate the building!) so I've tried to minimize the pre-move cover-up work while still making the place lovely and liveable. A compromise, like so much of life.

I have a very similar sofa and eclectic other stuff and recently painted my living room a sort of beige/tan/taupe color (Benjamin Moore's Brookline Beige) - mostly to highlight the sofa. Now I am seriously considering going darker. I was afraid of going too dark but your room makes me feel like a great big chicken. Thanks for the inspiration!
