Polly's "Kaleidescope Blue & Fuchsia" Room

Kaleidescope Blue & Fuchsia

Name:

Polly

Location:

Abilene, Texas

Division:

South

Colors Used

cobalt blue, turquoise, fuchsia, red, black

Color Inspiration

My collection of vintage ethnic textiles and ceramics were a starting point. That and our artwork.

Color Tips

Using intense colors together can work if you repeat variations of these colors in different rhythmic ways. Black and white can be a great counterpoint for all of that intensity. I try not to include anything in the mix that I'm not passionate about.

What makes this room a winner is the fact that it has all the elements of a GOOD room: fantastic design, wonderful colors, and a livable layout - but takes it a step further to become a GREAT room with its fearless character! This gorgeous, personable room clearly echoes the personalities of the people who live here. I love it.

Thanks for the kind comments! About the globes, I find them with the thought of reselling, but just can't seem to let go of them yet. sciteach, sounds like you're from around here?

Polly - please tell me where you found that great pink slipcover! I'd like to repurpose my still-comfy but tattered taupe (boring!) sofa for my daughters' playroom and I can't find any brightly colored slipcovers. Love your room!
Thanks!

Hi sueerneta--Thanks! The slipcover part that is red is one I found at Target several years ago on clearance. The pink part is a satin polyester quilt that I also got from Target about 4 years ago. It's orange on the other side. I tuck it in on top of the other slip cover and it stays in place fairly well. I plan to have a white denim slip cover made one of these days to replace this set up. Like you, comfort is of utmost importance so we're hanging onto our 80's couch that is so soft and deep.
