How interesting! I wish I lived near the performances! I am completely fascinated by victory gardens and actually posted about them recently on my blog, www.classiccookery.blogspot.com
We switched to ww pasta years ago, when it wasn't as good. Now we are so used to it that white pasta doesn't taste right. I generally buy the Trader Joe's organic whole wheat pasta, but sometimes I...
I would give this a try. Our shower and sinks periodically back up at the same time and I can't figure out why. I don't know if they are tied to other condos at some point and the back up is so bad...
Like v in Boston, this makes me a little sad, too. We used to have a house in the exurbs with a huge garden--rhubarb, horseradish, tomatoes, strawberries, zucchini, peppers, herbs, a little bit of ...
Every couple months I take them back to the dry cleaners and every time I do the woman at the front laments that most people are too lazy to bring them back. I'm sure some people use them, but we w...
I think this is a good idea, but I read a suggestion somewhere that you can put chopsticks in a glass for the same purpose. I just turn mine inside out and they stand on their own on a towel.
I have 50 or so now. A few years ago I donated a couple dozen that used a lot of processed food as ingredients or other books that just didn't work for me.
My newest collection is act...
I love Tassajara and the King Arthur whole grain book. I started with the Laurel's Kitchen bread book, but am not so crazy about it anymore. I've checked a couple others out from the library but ne...
Very interesting about the yogurt. I've never thought to freeze it, either. Every few months I just bought a new small container and used it as starter.
My freezer has: Trader Joe's pu...
Pomelos are my favorite fruit, or at least tied with mangoes. When I was 19 I worked on a kibbutz in Israel and we ate them straight from the orchard, but I couldn't find them for years here. Now, ...
I particularly like the classic "Laurel's Kitchen," perhaps because it is the first vegetarian cookbook I owned. I have the updated "recipes" version and still use it.
There are some things I won't throw out. We don't buy a whole lot of processed foods, but what we do have was pretty carefully chosen :-)
I am blogging about this here:
Chipotle peppers--I'm not sure, but someone told me awhile ago that they freeze well so that's what I do with them. It actually works great because you can just scoop out what you need.
I think baked goods--particularly yeasted baked goods--turn out better if the ingredients are weighed, especially when first learning to make them. Not everyone knows how dough should feel when str...
Oven baked brown rice, peanut chili, pudding. I think those are the only more complicated or exact recipes I have memorized. I do a lot of other more random cooking, like veggie chili and tomato sa...

Yikes! $18! I buy them at Trader Joe's for much less, though I haven't seen them yet this year.
Oh--forgot to say to the Christina, they are super easy to peel. The skin is thick, but you just dig your finger in and it peels away easily!

Looking forward to this! (Unfortunately, the form won't go through. It is giving me a db error).
