that is precisely the problem. 10% of the world actually puts their money where their mouth is, so to speak. i recycle EVERYTHING. if it can't be recycled i try very, very hard to think up new ways...

i think it looks fine either way! horizontal or vertical! but i also think if you go for the vertical arrangement, you should put the photos on the wall and repurpose the shelves elsewhere.....
