The bed in the pic reminds me of Martha Stewart's line. Looks pretty classic and could probably go either contemporary or more traditional:

Notwithstanding rude friends, you could always cover the Nelson bench with a custom made glass top, maybe at least that would protect the top from getting scratches!

Searing meat also makes a nice fond at the bottom of the pan that when deglazed, definitely makes the gravy/sauce/braising liquid more flavorful!

The West Elm at 41" one doesn't fit w/in Ruth's size restrictions. I'd also be interested in some ideas. Have been considering a custom Parsons table from Room and Board but no drawers and can be $.
