Joan A.! Those butterscotch brownies are the first thing I ever baked on my own, ever. My mom gave me the one she received when she was married in 1965. The pages are crumbling, but I keep tapin...
I'm clean (swept floors, clean dishes, fresh sheets, scrubbed tubs) but messy (things strewn about); my husband is tidy (everything in its place) but not so clean (doesn't care if it's not visibly ...
Victory! I finally made a successful Indian dinner last night! (Authentic I dunno, but it was delicious.) After many unsuccessful tries with various cookbook recipes, I literally read the ingred...
These are great tips. My quick breads have always been hit and miss, but I am a terrible preheater, I never check my baking powder, and my loaf pans are made of glass.
My bad, I didn't mean to suggest that boiled = distilled. All I meant to say was that cooled boiled water gives me clear ice cubes. I don't give it further thought.
I don't think I have anything unique to add, but I'll join the chorus.
I try to never order anything they can make at home. I don't make good Indian or Ethiopian food yet, and the lab...
I'm in a similar situation as the poster, and got great reviews when my contribution to a company bakesale was apple tarts where I just eyeballed the crust using a combination of hazelnut flour and...
I love this. This reminds me of that wallpaper that's a series of olde tymey newspaper ads for corsets and snake oil. We had that in a basement bathroom when I was a child and I never tired of it...
FWIW, when I was growing up, our stockings were always filled with "free" stuff: work tchotchkies, hotel toiletries (my dad traveled a lot), perfume samples, etc. These were always my favorite par...
I used to decorate my tree in navy blue glass balls and pink ribbon - I thought it was rather dramatic, but my boyfriend said it looked funereal. Now that we are married, our blue balls are headed...
We have a white duvet cover in summer and a brown suedey one for winter and switch out. This year I hung matching brown drapes and lay down an oriental-looking rug and it's amazing how cozy the ro...
I love that these two like-minded people found each other. I keep saying I'd rather save money on housing and spend it on travel - but these folks actually do it. Inspiring, really. A lot to be ...
Wow, more light in there than I would expect. Am wondering about moisture - I had a friend whose apartment was half-underground and when it rained worms would come up through his carpet.

Kathryn, those look like the cotton ones you can get at Ikea for 50 cents each.

I'll say. Gorgeous.
Doesn't Aveeno packaging say something about "colloidal oatmeal"? I always thought it had something to do with chicken pox...

On Christmas morning we have pumpkin pie for breakfast and then my dad makes a huge blender full of Silver Fizzes. (What? there's eggs in there!)
Oh yes, I've been dying for a decent roasting pan.

AlanMcCoy is right! For clear cubes on an ongoing basis, empty your (cooled) teakettle into your ice cube trays each time you make a fresh pot of tea.
This seems more like an advertisement than a review. Is there any science behind these claims?
