I saw a woman in my condo complex feeding a squirrel. It came right up and ate from her hand. I didn't even know they would do that.
I, however, shoo them away when I go to our garbag...
Nearly every costume shop where I worked in the nineties had some old mangle that was donated and it sat unused in a corner of the shop or buried in storage. Now someone's trying to make 'em chic.
truenic--
you are correct that it is cheaper to buy most things than to make them. The rise in cheap goods has played into the decline in home skills. And it has been increasingly di...
I am constantly amazed (and frustrated professionally--I work in a costume shop) by how few people know how to sew! It used to be a part of daily life for people. A necessary skill. My grandmoth...
n2denim and christie--
If you don't like the "keep calm", don't look at it.
Although I have one, I get that you are sick of it. And even though it's a nice message, maybe...
I have one bookshelf where I have books arranged by color and it works out just fine. The books are mostly decorative anyway--fashion, home decor and sewing. I have a few novels that have colorfu...
Here's something I'll never do myself again: Paint my vaulted popcorn ceiling. Ugh. Someone else with proper tools and skill will be doing that next time--and removing the popcorn.
I've been contemplating this question since inheriting my mom's Duncan Phyfe style table. The chairs I also inherited I don't think belong to the table. They are 1950s "colonial" and I sorta hat...
Very uncool--I live in a condo with a view of the parking lot , rows of garages, and the shed for garbage and recycling (at least there IS a shed covering it!)
We just got a new service and new bins that say "single sort" and list all recyclables. I was confused by this , but I guess it is the same as "single stream". They take more plastics than the ol...
I got a great vintage-style telephone there a few years ago when I was shopping for kids gifts. So I often check out what they have that I can use in my place since then.

That entryway is super cute!!!
I used dowels and chain , s-hooks and cup hooks from the hardware store.
If I could only afford $18-85 per square foot carpet!!! If I could, I'd just put down hardwood and a nice rug. It'd be cheaper.
Window cleaning is on my list. And I just washed my scarves and sweaters that I was supposed to wash last spring before storing!
Are you trying to tell me that I drink too much beer?
