Regarding making this DIY style: Hmm, perhaps I am mistaken, but don't light bulbs have mercury in them? While it would be great to re-use something as ubiquitous as spent bulbs, it might not be safe.

Streamline gets my vote, too! I've always found blue to be a restful color, so most of my bedroom stuff is blue.
