I take a 32 oz nalgene bottle of iced tea to work each day. Been brewing the tea with warmish tap water. Will try to brew it over night and see if it makes a difference.
We have a butter bell, too, but the butter usually falls out into the water. Was just thinking I need to go back to my small glass vintage pyrex refrigerator box, at least for the summer.
I love to linger around the table after dinner with dessert and coffee (of course, I've usually just been running around like crazy getting dinner ON the table, so it's nice to sit). My husband fin...
How about one of those sandwich loaves?
Get a loaf of dense white bread, unsliced. Slice off the crusts, then slice horizontally into 3 or 4 layers. Fill each layer with a different ki...
I freeze it too, in ice cube trays (marked specifically for that purpose, lest I end up making garlicky ice cubes, blech). I usually put a cube or two in my weeknight marinara sauce.
When we were remodeling our kitchen, I missed pasta the most, so I bought a butane-powered burner. It did take forever to heat the water, but it did help the pasta cravings. The grill turned out to...
I just checked out Shirley Corriher's (sp?) BakeWise from the library. Haven't delved too far in, but I did poke around enough to learn that butter has a lower melting point than shortening, hence ...
Instead of a sharpie or a dry erase marker, I use a china marker (wax pencil) on my leftover/freezer containers. I can scrub it off with a sponge once the container's empty.
Our 1913 home has a laundry chute in the 2nd floor bath, and an opening into a kitchen cabinet, to throw down kitchen towels. When we remodeled the tiny kitchen, we couldn't bear to part with the k...
I keep a roll around for bacon and dog ick, but they are used very sporadically. I bought a stack of bar mop towels to use as hand/dish drying towels. I use that day's not-usually-all-that-dirty to...

Triscuits, Stoned Wheat thins are the standards. Occasionally, it will be the Carr's Wheaty-oatmeal biscuits and/or Ry-crisp, if I can find them.

I have a vacation house and freeze batches of cookie dough and crisp topping to keep on hand - to make something special and yet, low-fuss.

For me, I'd leave out the loaf pan, but then I'm not much of a baker. Tongs? Will you be grilling? Can't grill (easily) without tongs...
Might the single-serve portions be frozen?

Hmmm... since I'm more of a cook than a baker, I might be able make it work, but would seriously miss roast chicken and lasagna.
Roasted asparagus with hollandaise!

aaagghhh... those would perfectly complement my vintage and neo Fiesta ware.
Carmelita's white sauce comment made me think of sausage gravy - which while good on biscuits, would also be good on waffles.
Trader Joe's also has a selection of pre-cut veggies in the fresh produce department, like butternut squash - perfect for roasting.
Domino's is one of my guilty pleasures.. but that is just wrong. Evil genius, but wrong.
