I slap a layer of foil into the pan, spray it with non-stick liberally before putting anything in the oven. Probably not the most scientific or correct way of doing it, but it works.

1/2c honey
1/2c molasses or treacle
1/2c peanut butter
1/2 tsp vanilla essence ...

How about gluing a strip of felt and offcut of plywood to the base to prevent utensils exiting the back or scratching the surface?
