Actually two (XL) twin beds pushed together makes a standard King size mattress not a double or a queen.

emmelemm, why not get a rug in a natural material like jute in the exact size that you want for your room and then layer your odd size rug over it?

Well you can't use the lights with exposed bulbs as a direct source of light. Just use a low wattage bulb for the decorative glow in fixtures like these.
