Ha ha. We all think OUR possessions are prized objets d'art and design, and everyone else's are just knick-knacks.

What's wrong with killing a little grass? It doesn't have feelings and it grows back...

We have a higher than normal shower curtain, and it amazed me just how impossible it was to find ANYTHING that was not 72 inches long. Never have I encountered a shopping challenge quite so extreme!

Oh boo. I tried to see flickr picture linked above, but it said it was private. Oh well. I love this idea, and am figuring out how to work with it in our hallway.

Just one question: How hard are these to paint? Would amateur painting skills just leave them looking messy?

yeah yeah, I know it's totally impractical and a bit of a death trap but oh how glamorous! Hot all the way.

Also, it frankly seems far less narcissistic than posting pictures of your apartment on flicker, which is about showing them off to the world, and hoping people admire them. It seems to me that thi...

I don't see anything narcissistic about it. It's about seeing the day to day things around you in a new way. To me, that's what art is fundamentally about!

Yuck! And, yes, it has two purposes, but surely one already has a thousand trivets and bowls in one's house, so adding another "doubly useful" one is just adding more clutter.

I agree that these are a jumble, but I am about to get to work on a nice wall gallery for my apartment. It's all well and good to say hanging family pictures is tacky, but if you have children, and...

There's something nasty about rocks in sinks. After all, you wash the crap off of your hands, do you really want it sitting around on all of the surfaces of the rocks? Seems to me they;d just coll...

Soap on a rope is a happy thing. My brother has received the same soap on a rope for Christmas every year for almost twenty years. Literally the same soap. It got "left behind" the first year, and ...

I love empty frames. They speak of so much potential.

Wow! My first NYC apartment was 285 square feet. Curtis, maybe we had the same apartment -- Did you live in Hells Kitchen?

These are gorgeous! I wish that art-related posts would give some vague sense of pricing. Not that every piece needs a price tag, but a general guide to price ranges would be helpful.. For instance...

Ha! I jumped to the comment section to make the very same point that viola made. There is nothing more beautiful that a completely uncluttered wall-o-books. breaking it up with knick knacks just ma...

I love love love this bench. I'd put it in a garden in winter and it would make me so happy! Granted, I only have a terrace, so it wouldn't have the same effect. Oh well.

I say get rid of it! You say it's not very comfortable, and it doesn't rise to the occasion -- the rest of the apartment is so cool and stylish and exciting, and the sectional is just blah. I kno...

I liked this picture so much that I plunked the kids in the car and drove off to Ikea to buy it to recover my dining room chair-seats. It looks fabulous in person (only warning: the pattern on the ...
