all you have to do is go to your local lamp shop and they will drill the hole and do the wiring for a reasonable fee... should be way less than a $100.

bon ami and bar keepers friend are both inexpensive, environmentally friendly and non-abrasive (they won't scratch surfaces like comet!)
i prefer bon ami... and it's great for cleaning...
