I love houndstooth - just purchased two pillows from HomeGoods for the living room. Black and Cream large pattern houndstooth. It has to be large pattern though - I don't like the little ones.

I think if you change out the hardware to something like the really long brushed nickel handles you will really see a difference. With a few changes that the others have mentioned you will be well...

just purchased the book! We are moving in 3 weeks so I plan to put this to good use when unpacking and making the place feel like home.
