This is allegedly a home design blog, isn't it? I expect a variety of different styles and "types" of interior decor, and I love that this is more cottagey and warm than most. In fact, it's a lot ...

am I the only one that thinks it's a little sloppy and unedited?

nothing is ever going to make a dropcloth on a couch NOT look messy

I recognize two mirrors from the dear departed Bombay Company... man , did they make a great, wellpriced mirror.

a cohesive and brilliantly executed take on updated tradition... i love it.

seriously, there's a great hi/low mix here (those CB2 glass candlesticks are $3.99), but those IKEA "fake Le Klint's" stand out like a sore thumb. Otherwise I really dig it.

it's just you. that huge scale is what makes it.

don't hesitate for a second to paint over those stairs too.. I'd stain just the treads (the part you step on) deeper, (walnut) and EVERYTHING else white... spindles, railings. Immediate classic up...

stunning. Loved all of it.. character, charm, a fab mixture of styles, a classic example of "if you love it all it will work". Kudos.

what happened to my comment?

Ummm.. maybe you don't want to hear this but I wouldn't do much... I kind of love it. Find a used sixties or modern light fixture to replace that hideous Home Depot mess, professionally clean that ...

completely and utterly charming.

its liberty towers.

yeah.. mine's gone too

my experience with Lowes' with custom-ordered doors was terrific.. their "house brand" is eminently customizable.. (I think it's their housebrand... Relia-built).

it IS Restoration Hardware.

when I , as a casual reader of shelter magazines, can name an object in every single shot from the DWR catalog, this hardly comes across as "design" as "assembling trophy pieces" to show off. Boring.

no question the only way to go here is a pale blue out of the couch. that and lots of crisp white trim (keep the cabs white) . i think that will add a clean, updated vibe that will take your couch...

clever, i just dont dig the diagonal of it all. i would have gone straight checkerboard, and not in such a "looks like 90's faux painting" pattern .

modern, warm and personal.... finally NOT a showroom. Love it.
