You forgot to mention the most fun option, which is to buy wine by the crate!

I tried this with tea towels and they turned yellow. I wish it worked, though!

In my experience what salad spinner you are using makes a big difference. I have the cheapest possible one (from the dollar store) and it is easy to clean and use-- no spring-loaded spinners, just...

What, you mean actual houses in Canada don't look like this? :) I think even an American could recognize this as art rather than actual Canadian decor, Chris. I adore those geese! ...

Just to clarify: I am in no way associated with FlyLady. My mom is just really into her strange purple rubber brush, which to me makes about as much sense as a foot dustpan. That k...

I can't believe this didn't include FlyLady's Rubba Scrubba!

Dana, clearly you meant no harm, but my Midwestern hackles went up at "hinterlands." My cookbook-soulmate is "Passionate Vegetarian" by Crescent Dragonwagon. She wrote from Eureka ...

I like a malty and sweet beer when I'm just drinking a beer, but when I'm eating, I want something bitterer. Several of the beers that used to be brewed in my hometown (the brewery w...

I had a Target version that looked like the RSVP. After less than a year of use, the bottom fell off! Apparently the glue used to hold the pieces together was oil-soluble. I was too mad!

I hate cleaning when my husband is around. Even if he's also doing chores, I can't resist (unfavorably) comparing how hard he is working to how hard I am working! It's a no-win situation. Luckil...

I had a futon on the floor in college. I miss the simplicity. As for cleanliness, well, I have two cats hopping all over my bed most of the time, so I think there is probably not a lot of differe...

Oh my god! I read that book over and over when I was a kid. I found it in our small-town library and loved the projects. My mother thought I was nuts to be looking at such dated decor... who kne...

I use similar containers as to-go cups. Just cut a small cross in the top of the lid and poke a straw through. That way, I get the "refill" price on fountain sodas at the convenience store!

We canoe-camp, which usually means we can lug along more cooking gear than a backpacker. I like one sweet potato (or a couple of carrots), one potato, one onion, and a little bit of ham cubed and ...

I make homemade yogurt from powdered milk, which makes it extremely cheap. I tried making my own wine, but it turned out to be more like making my own prison hooch. Very yeasty and ...

That poster is perfect for we who love the good stuff, but can't afford to bring it home! Ah, Eames!

I also vote for fir.

I use baking soda with a tiny bit of dishwashing detergent. I don't let it sit, though, just rub in circles (gently, not scrubbing). It works fine for me.

I LOVE the pairing of the table and chairs. The mixture of textures throughout the house is very pleasing and I also like that the walls are bare. Thumbs up!

I would starve without this! Add toast and a tomato slice and you have breakfast in about 2 minutes. I make mine in a coffee mug, too.
