if you're lucky enough to have a fireplace, working or not, you should play it up, make it the focal point of the room, and enjoy it. Even an ugly fireplace can be dressed up to look good.

The outside doesn't match the beauty of the inside and needs some attention. I know it's the winter, but it looks bare, a couple of urns with greenery, and the front porch should be tiled/painted....
The wood is lovely as is. Don't paint it, but do paint the trim/windows white and the front door a bright, funky, fun colour, such as yellow, pistachio, pale blue or red.
