This is a very timely post for me. I am signing the lease today on an apartment with an eat in kitchen but it's too small for my dining table so that's going in the living room. I've been enjoying ...
Cooking over a campfire seems like a great idea for this recipe. You could bring the ingredients in their own bowls so the cooked pasta wouldn't get mushy, then combine them when they're ready to b...
When I was growing up in the Midwest we always stored our firewood in a pile a few feet from the house specifically because of termites. I agree that this is a cool idea and interesting to look at ...
"The Beige Box" - It's a nice apartment but I curse the person who decided to take our already gneric box-like apartment and paint the walls and ceiling of every room the same boring shade of beige.
My husband and I have lived in four different apartments together so far and we've never been unable to fit our king size bed in (somehow). We see it as a bit of a necessity since my husband is 6'5...
@heathshah - I was just going to suggest this recipe. I saw them make it on America's Test Kitchen and then I looked it up in Cook's Illustrated. My husband and I agreed that this was the best chic...
I have found realmemories.com to be a great source for photo framing. You can upload your digital photo, then choose a mat and frame, and they send you the framed and matted photo in about two week...
These are lovely choices but of all the things to buy brand new I would think a blanket to put on the ground and eat on would not be one of them. Go to a thrift store, buy an old quilt, give it a g...
I am with the people who have sugested the East Bay. My husband commutes to downtown SF every day from Rockridge in Oakland and it takes him less than 25 mintues and no gas. Plus, rent is much more...
We had concrete floors in our last apartment and we had to put down rugs everywhere we didn't want bare feet to touch cold floor. Easy to clean but other than that not very nice to live with.
I used some of the Claus Vorto soap that was in a friend's bathroom. I loved the smell so much I looked it up online when I got home. Then I realized it $20 for a 13 oz. bottle. Yikes! Guess I'll ...

Between all of the bookshelves, conversation areas, and pool table I thought this place was a swanky community center.

I have some tea that has a wonderful smell but only so-so taste. Maybe I will cut some teabags open and pour them into a small bowl for the bathroom.

My last place had light yellow walls in the kitchen and it was so lovely. I would definitely recommend yellow to go with the lime.
Roasted butternut squash and kale whole wheat lasagna. So delicious but so many steps.

I've been to The Crescent. My mom used to take me there and we'd scare ourselves silly imaging ghosts around every corner.
Way to go, Oakland! Not sure why we're on the list but it's nice for Oakland to be acknowledged for something positive.

Ps- The hole looks like it's over a bin. Maybe it's for trash from food prep?
Does anyone know anything about the colorful flatware pictured? They look like awesome pieces for every day use (if they're not super expensive).

Ahh windows in the bathroom- a longstanding dream of mine. Without them, it seems like the bathroom (and my towels) never get 100% dry after a shower.
