I think that Ina Garten's recipe for her classic cheesecake is a possible solution - she starts baking at a very high temperature, and incrementally lowers the temperature at intervals. I have had...
I did Union Market last year - it was a bit of a fiasco, because I ordered ahead, and they ended up losing my order number. However, they finally got me a turkey, and it was a delicious one.
this might sound bizarre, but i a) clean up any food spills immediately, b) vacuum the whole (800 sq ft) apartment 4-5 times a week, and c) generally wipe down the kitchen floor on a night that i u...
I really, really love the Genji Ginger Miso dressing, the one by the sushi at Whole Foods. It's really expensive, and I hate buying prepared foods, does anyone have any recipes?
the stuff in cartons just doesn't taste good. when i lived in spain, they had these orange squeezing machines in every cafe and restaurant. i would get it as a treat, or as a quick breakfast on t...
I do this horribly dangerous thing that involves smacking the blade of my chef's knife against the edge to get a little bite and open the lid just enough to break the seal.
I did this a while ago, on accident, but I have never gone back. I don't use a container, I find that they just sort of nestle nicely so they are usually together anyways...

Mara - are these simply breaded and deep-fried? I didn't know about this being an east-coaster, and it has peeked my curiosity. It sounds like Wednesday's dinner experiment has been lined up for me
