So, is that backsplash just a piece of linoleum covering the black and yellow tiles? If so, just rip it out. Those tiles have a nice art deco design, and if you paint the walls above them an even w...
Ground almonds and flax seeds mixed with a hint of pumice powder. Reconstitute with a few drops of water and scrub away. Leaves a nice layer of almond/flax oil on the skin.
I don't know the show, but what I'm seeing in these photos are mature native plants being replaced by young boxwoods???
How is that a good landscaping solution?
The problem with all wall planters (as far as I can tell) is that they don't give enough room for root development. Eventually, the plants will suffocate themselves as they become root bound.
The chairs give me a feeling like I have ants in my pants - which I guess could be seen as good pomo design. And now that I'm thinking about it that way...I sort of like them.

Agreed. $300 - $1000 is not expensive for original work. You buy chairs for $300 - $1000, right?
Think about it. You can hang them like you hang coffee mugs under cabinets. At the very least comical, but maybe it has potential in the right hands.
Poured concrete stools...that you will never be able to move once they're poured. Message? Make sure you pour them exactly where you want them.

I second the call for roman blinds. Target sells them for $24 in nice natural shades that would match the room well.
