This seems like a slightly grown-up version of wood paneling. Cool in small doses, but a whole room in one of the wood-grain versions would be a bit much.
Assuming for a moment that its a fake zebra rug, I still think its a bad look in this case.

I've found that storing things digitally is THE single easiest way to save on space. no more stacks of papers or photos to deal with. And as long as you back it all up, there's no need to fear.
