I admit I'm more of the pack rat in my relationship, and it drives my husband nuts. What's really helped, especially since we got our new apartment and don't have a separate storage area in the bui...
Contrary to many people's opinions, "PAINT IT!" is not the solution to everything. I agree with the editor's comment, you should work with what you have here, which is a beautifully preserved featu...
Blech. This is one of my least favorite parts of the decor on the show, along with that fussy ruffled lampshade in their living room. I noticed that another character's house had one, too.
sunspot42: I'm curious to know where and how you found a recycler that will take jewel and DVD cases. The curbside pickup here only takes bottles with necks, nothing else plastic. Are there special...
I think it's absurd to even consider not pricing things. Even if for no other reason than your own sanity -- do you really want every person who stops by to ask you about every single item they con...
I never thought these could be made to look good as a bookshelf, but she's managed to do it! My fiance has shelving like this in black, and I always refer to it as "your Ugly Shelves." I don't thin...
I could never maintain anything too themed -- that is, keeping strictly to one style or another, whether it be MCM, Victorian, whatever. I like the flexibility of being able to incorporate somethin...

I think Tiamet_the_Red said it perfectly. Decorate with whatever "speaks to you," whether that be something from Target's Global Market line or something you picked up on a trip to Japan...or both!...
When I was young, a robin laid eggs in a hanging basket on my house. It turned out that the nest was too small for the number of babies, and one kept falling out. Finally we took the last one that ...
@areneetay So true! Most times I go yard-sale-ing I end up on at least one wild goose chase, probably due to old signs. Another good idea sign-wise is to make them all match, especially if your hom...
As a yard sale shopper, it's easy to tell whether the people holding the sale have ever actually been to a yard sale. The #1 mistake (and a dead giveaway that they don't know what they're doing) is...
@MrCranky: "I also can't afford an original Van Gogh. But I would never dream of buying one of the Van Gogh oil reproductions you can get on eBay for $100. It would scream pretentious shallowness i...
flyzipper: I imagine that being a light sleeper and hearing people in the throes of passion at 3 am when you have an 8 am final exam the next day would be nothing short of agonizing. :)
