Whoa. Am sitting in my apartment at my dining table, browsing AT. I see this. I look down. I am sitting in that chair! I tell you, come to Denmark and buy this stuff. Dime a dozen I tell you.
With that color of wood, I actually like stainless steel for the counter and backsplash. A more modern feel, since another material might be more folksy teamed up with it.
Ooooh, this has been such a big deal. I live in Copenhagen, and can truthfully say, while this may epitomize modern state of the art Danish design/architecture, this is far from how typical people ...
No mention of candles? Those really heat things up!
And remember to use your curtains/drapes. Besides being decorative, they actually insulate drafty windows.

WAIT! You don't mention which direction the rooms face.
Rooms facing north, east, northeast need warm colors, ie gentle off whites with ochre, or something more bright perhaps.
I've always done this! It's best if you the kind of paper that already has those tiny squares on it. Then you say that each square is 10 inches or whatever, and you take it from there. A good way t...
I agree on covering the brick. I would paint it something lighter as well. The mantel too. Also, the lamp is a bit too high, like the other things mentioned. A shelf or two behind the chair with bo...
Oh! I have a beaut! In the 80s my Dad had this crazy squirt gun thingy that kept melted butter hot, so you could just squirt it on your popcorn at will. Puh-lease.
Agreed! Spouse and I are masters of packing light. We managed to take our two small kids (6mos and 2yr) to France by train (from Denmark) with only one bag. We're doing it again, this time all the ...
I've been perfectly frank with all my loved ones and started a "no gift" policy. I have received so much crap over the years: interior, clothing, cheap toys for the kids, that I got fed up. I tell ...
Wow, that reminds me of Finland with the wood. I would suggest getting a hold of some BIG frames or canvases (4-5), and picking two or three Marimekko patterns and making a series out of them. Hang...
The bed is Minnen from Ikea. It looks even better when you see it yourself. Both my boys have the same bed, in their shared bedroom. They make any room look great.
I totally second tinafrog01's suggestion!!!
Embrace the darkness. I'm thinking that fuchsia on one or more walls would be a good color to offset the avocado and yellows of the space. A...
@ mjoe,
I second (or is it third?) the pale blue. I have painted the floor in my darkest room at light Tiffany Blue, and even on the darkest, greyest day (I live in Denmark), the room ...
I think it's great. But it definitely works because of the strong colours at hand here. If we were in the neutrals, it would be pointless. I also love it, because it takes real balls to do it.

We've had these toilets in Europe for ages. Can't believe it's taken so long to catch on in the US.
