I keep a computer file for special occasion meals (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.) That way I can replicate it again the next year if it was a hit.
I love this idea as well. juliaonhamilton - good point that I hadn't thought of, I might have to research this a bit more before busting out the french doors.
Hmm, I like the two duvets in one cover idea - filing that away. I will have to sneak the second one in though because my husband would go nuts if he knew I was putting yet another layer on the be...
Very well done. I would be interested in the cost of this home vs. a similar sized home built "the old fashioned" way. And how the photovotaics, wind turbine, etc. will help them recoup those cos...
I just finished using Behr's new paint and primer in one on a bright red bathroom. I was painting it a slate blue, it covered in one coat. That would at least minimize your effort. They also sel...
I agree with most posters that this piece is best left alone. I would change the knobs to something interesting and unexpected and put a thick glass top (like 3/4") on the top. That will protect...
I have that same photo (for my husband, a Chicago Transplant) hanging on an orange wall. It looks pretty good. I agree with everyone though, the best part of black and white photos/posters is the...
I met Thomas Phesant a few months ago at an event and he was one of the nicest psudo-celebrity designers I have ever met. That always makes me feel better selecting his furniture for a client.
I have been wanting to paint the kitchen cupboards in our house for months. They similar if not exactly the same as this post. Thanks for just giving me to guts to do it!
I am so envious, these are my dream chairs. I would love to find these chairs for a bargain on ebay or craigslist. I like them both ways, thanks for sharing.
A friend of mine has a book in her entryway called "A Good House is Never Done". I have embraced that philosophy for my home as well as my clients. I think most homes look great if the owner is c...
I am dying to find an old building and repurpose it as a home. I would love an old schoolhouse, firehouse, warehouse, etc. This post is both inspiring and intimidating. What a lot of work!!
I recently found a MCM credenza that was used in an office. It has sliding doors so they don't open into the room when you are using something inside. I put the DVD player and TIVO/satellite rece...

Much better than any of the other themey man caves I have seen on that show.

I would love a copy of the Petrie residence, I have always wanted to design a similar house for myself.
I am doing a burlap cornice in a kitchen this week. Can't wait to see how it turns out. http://sanctuaryhome.wordpress.com/

So gorgeous, not your typical Outer Banks house.
I vote for a deep well applied orange paint. It looks like one of the drawers is a replacement, so staining wouldn't work.

I like the rug you have chosen, but I don't think it is particularly livable. I like these with the new furniture:
