I think you shouldn't overlook the colors predominating in your neighborhood when deciding on a color. Are most of the houses brick? Wood? Stucco? And if so, what colors are used. I think you will...
I too love the photo of the donkeys and pony and goats. Is it from Sardinia? North Africa? Where?
Also, what exposure is your greenhouse window? Could you tell us more about it? Is is ...
It's hard when it's your kitchen. It's the first thing you see in the morning. I do think adding a bit of faded turquoise blue and some gray as in the Creature comforts link previously -- though ad...
I have noticed that blue and red is a combination you often see in Great Britain, but not here, for some reason, though it is the color combination in both our flags.
I notice in Japanese TV series they show clothes racks like that. Maybe it's just for the clothes people plan to wear the next day. Or, they just may have less clothes, consumer goods being much mo...
Blue and muted silver and silvery gray are very fashionable right now. Blue always looks good with a bit more blue in other shades. You can warm things up with artwork and flowers or plants. I wou...
I just went there and the other commenters are right -- the designs look good in the catalog but in person they are grossly huge and out of scale.
They are like Disney antiques on ster...
People use them as hot tubs outdoors -- there are websites about it telling you which ones are best. I would like to get one for my garden but don't know where to find it. Also DH isn't mad for them.
I think you should paint the black surround a nice soft terra cotta color to blend with the brick (and wood). Then add molding or another thicker board to the top of the mantle to make it look more...
It looks like something from Persia or the Alhambra or a desert oasis. Actually, according to the source, it is a rainwater tank, so it is functional as well as beautiful.
Well, I personally think you should keep the gorgeous cabinets (paint or refinish the insides if dingy). Install more lighting (not necessarily getting rid of not-too-bad pendant lamp) under counte...
I have wall mounted fans -- the kind used in greenhouses -- and wouldn't be without them. They are quiet and seem to do a better job cooling the room than the ceiling fans because they swing back a...
I visited a dorm in a university in southwest China that was not unlike this. It also had washing machines and a terrace -- used for drying clothes. Four people shared the space.
I love the "grow bag" plant containers -- if that's what they are. You can buy them or make them yourself out of landscape cloth, but I didn't realize you could use them indoors.
That's a load-bearing wall. If you took out the two-by-fours the house would probably collapse. Maybe it's safe, but the fact is, these photos make me a little queasy.
These techniques work (especially the vacuuming). I can vouch for it. Also (although it is a chemical) you can keep a mothball or two in the vacuum cleaner bag.

I find the use of black and the ubiquitous baskets deeply repellent.
I agree. Leave it alone and white rug (or pale gray). I think you need more lights for reading, though.

Forget these. You want the fans made by Air king. They are much cheaper and there is no problem shipping.
