yes, absolutely mix wood colors... the result is not bad as is. I think a pop of a big red bowl on the table would do wonders.
wood is a neutral, mixed neutrals are always fine together.
assuming the woodwork is "builder" quality rather than anything of high quality... I think the wood just pops out too much... I would paint out the baseboards and shelves, maybe the fireplace trim ...

forever to dry equals a finish that lasts forever...
